Central India is rich in bird life and receives migrants from all over. Bandhavgarh in the state of Madhya Pradesh is an excellent bird habitat. The diverse terrain is home to some of the most magnificent avian species.
Ideal for forest birds on comes across a number of wetland species in surrounding water bodies which are large. The place excels as habitat for raptors and vultures. Many of these birds breed here including Long Billed Vulture. The best period for birding is in winters whence migrants arrive. But summer birding is equally good since sightings increase in dry canopy. The resident birds of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve are as attractive and in great numbers.
Bird watching in this preserve is a delight. One needs lot of patience to discover forest birds besides ability to bear eye strain but the end result is rewarding.
